Have you ever wondered whether there was some way to integrate all areas of knowledge into a system that actually makes sense? A system which would not fall prey to fallacies and forced arguments, but one that would flow naturally from life to art to mathematics to physics to philosophy to technology to culture to theology and back to life. Well, Pavel Florenskij (1882-1937), known by his peers as the Russian Leonardo da’ Vinci, attempted just that!

The Faculty of Theology along with the Għaqda Studenti Teoloġija is organising an Inter-Faculty Colloquium between the 6th and 7th December 2017 on Pavel Florenskij, one of the greatest minds of the twentieth century. Coinciding with the eightieth anniversary since his execution by the Russian Soviet Government, the Colloquium will address Florenskij’s integral worldview by bringing together students and lecturers from 8 Departments (i.e. 3 Faculties) of our University.

The methodology of the Colloquium will take the form of a debate. Five pairs of speakers will react to five of Florenskij’s papers, each from their own perspective. There will also be time for discussion, hoping that the inter-disciplinary approach will help to bring all our academic endeavours closer. The two-day programme is available below.

This event is being organised by the Faculty of Theology, the Carmelite Institute Malta and the Għaqda Studenti tat-Teoloġija.

Available seats are limited so prior registration is needed. The venue shall be the Faculty of Theology Boardroom THL 316, University of Malta.

We do hope you accept our invitation.
